Navigation

NorthAble developed Navigation in 2006 to respond to the needs of whanau in Northland not being met through traditional services. Navigation is a unique, short-term, outcomes focused service provision model aiming at enabling individuals and whanau to create a positive future for themselves. It facilitates intervention and support around opportunities for self-determination for families to maintain resilience and remain in their local communities.

Navigators are contracted independently; they don't work for the system, instead they work directly with individuals and whanau to establish what they need. They then work alongside them to give them the tools they need to achieve their goals.

Currently, NorthAble receives funds through an MSD Community Connection contract to provide this service to anyone stuggling to negotiate the social services system.

Our Navigators can work with you to establish and work on goals relating to employment, education, community engagement, access to health services, and more. To download the referral form click here (DOCX, 115 KB).

If you have any questions about this service please contact NorthAble Matapuna Hauora on 0508 637 200 or 09 430 0988.
